Colonial Life Review

Directions: Under each complete the phrase, answer the question, fill in the blank, or define the definition.

How were colonial govs set up and how did the Glorious Rev in England affect them? Most had govs but differed on way they were appointed and most had some type of elected leg. In 1685 James 2 England combined colonies by revoking charters and replaced assemblies with crown appointed bodies.

Describe the slave trade and how it affected the colonies: in the north the slaves worked small jobs but in the south they worked hard labor. They trade goods for slave Europe to Africa

Describe colonial trade and taxes: England believed in the policy of mercantilism colonial have to buy English goods which allowed England to collect taxes.


Describe the commercial rev in the colonies: They started wanting luxury items, the commercial rev in the colonies with more and more British companies becoming profitable.

What crop becomes the one that allows Jamestown to turn a profit? Tobacco

What are the effects of the Jamestown colonies expansion? As colonist took more land for plantations enraged Indians

Describe Bacon’s Rebellion: A was broke out against the Indians and they didn’t want to listen to a king half away across the world.




Bell Ringer: Why might Pocahontas’s marriage to John Rolfe have been seen as away to end the war ?

Because they both of there family’s were on different side of the war, and by begin them being together it will make them see if there so different and they can fall in love then may be they can put away the differences .
